In my own opinion trying medicines to cure depression is not a good idea. Please bear in mind the following things. There are bad times for most people at some stage in their life. The only way then is to grin and bear it. And as Churchill said, When you going through Hell keep moving.
Do something that helps your mind. Social isolation, or lonliness can be terrifying. Try to concentrate on something that intrests you. If you have a computer of your own, trying learning some new software application, that can keep you busy.
See if there are people or words that distress you. If so, they can kindle your problem. However if you are busy with some project of your own, then sleep problems may go.
Walking, swimming, boisterous games, and having friends can help. Join some intelluctal chat or writing on the Net. it can keep you intelluctually busy.
Physcial excertion that makes you tired may help you sleep.
